The words of St. Peter to those early Christians make it clear that the enemy is looking to utterly destroy our lives. We battle Satan every single day. We fight against the bondage of sin and addiction; we fight off the temptation to fall into despair. Not only is he attacking us, but he is going after our families, our friends, and our Church. In these days of trial, we are the soldiers on the frontlines, we are the warriors in the fight against evil. Are you ready for the fight?

Like soldiers under siege, we can become weary of the daily fight. The devil will whisper that we aren't strong enough, make us feel isolated and alone, abandoned by God, left to our own devices. Nothing could be further from the truth! Legions of angels fight by our side, and we stand side by side with every Christian in the world. As St. Peter said, “Resist him, steadfast in faith, knowing that your fellow believers throughout the world undergo the same sufferings.”
