Men are under attack. The enemy is working overtime to try and breakdown the family, destroy fatherhood in our society and emasculate men in so many different ways. One of the most effective tools of the devil is to drain us of our energy and strip us of our drive. We become complacent, lackadaisical, and apathetic. In short, we allow the world to quench our fire.

The Lord wants to fill us with the burning fire of his Love. He desires to enkindle in us the blazing glory of the Holy Spirit, to set us and the world around us on fire. He wants us to glow with the flames of His glory so that our fire can ignite that same fire in the hearts of those around us.

We must allow ourselves to be shaped and formed in the forge of our trials. To allow the great blacksmith to temper us and fold us on the anvil of our sufferings. Like steel that heats until it glows, until it is soft enough to become something greater, something stronger. We must allow the Lord to use our daily trials to create from us a weapon to protect our families and fight off the attacks of the evil one.

We must be set on fire for the Lord, set ablaze with the Holy Spirit, so we can become what St. Catherine of Sienna says the devil fears the most: a heart on fire with the Love of God.
